MING!FILM News - 1st Prize and Best Screenplay for LIFE CYCLE at Screenlabs Challenge 2008!
David CC Erickson's "LIFE CYCLE" short film has taken 1st place and Best Screenplay in the Screenlabs Challenge 2008!
MING!FILM co-production of Polycarp Productions' "GOOD LOVE RISES" came away with the 2nd place prize, giving MING!FILM and David CC Erickson a triple play in the Minnesota-exclusive competition!
These prize-winning films can be viewed in the virtual screening-room at

(along with last years Screenlabs Challenge entry "BORN TO THE STARS" and the re-edited dark satire "ON THE LAST DAY")
The welcome infusion of cash from this competition will be put in the production account for future projects. Special thanks to Robb Mitchell (ScreenLabs), Hafed Bouassida (Minnesota Community & Technical College), and Chris Gegax (Screenwriter's Workshop) for putting the Screenlabs Challenge together.
David CC Erickson and Julie Meyer, Writer/Directors of the winning films are members of the Screenwriter's Workshop (http://www.screenwritersworkshop.org) Sunday group, whose long-time member, Alvin Easter, has recently returned from finalist festivities for his entry "SAND" in the prestigious Shasha Grant competition of The Circle http://thecircle.hifolio.com/, hosted in Abu Dhabi! Sunday writers rock!
Extra special thanks to Shari Goldberg (http://www.myspace.com/sharig) who did a fantastic job on "LIFE CYCLE" with MING!FILM's innovative "internet collaboration" as she delivered completed footage via email and YouTube, having never actually met Writer/Director David CC Erickson, and who stepped up with an outstanding performance that significantly raised the quality of the final product. As part of MING!FILM's participation agreement, she receives a substantial percentage of all proceeds realized from her collaboration. "LIFE CYCLE" will be circulated among the appropriate festivals in the coming months.
MING!FILM writer/director David CC Erickson is shifting into screenwriting mode as he revs up a spec-assignment teen horror feature script for Michigan-based Atlas films and an offbeat comedy feature - working title "One Man Nation" - for delivery to contest, grant, and production opportunities.
Thank you for supporting the Minneapolis film community!

2) MING!FILM has again responded to the Screenlabs Challenge with another highly unusual tale, this one set far in the future. And not so far:
LIFE CYCLE Synopsis: A glimpse of the future - where the few survivors of a nuclear holocaust are cloned from one man and video phone messages retrieved from the past contain the only reminders of what was human passion.
Confused? Find clarity at the ScreenLabs Challenge blog, where you can view LIFE CYCLE as well as the other entrants in this year's challenge.

If you enjoy LIFE CYCLE, please vote for it as part of the "Audience Favorite" segment of the judging.
3) MING!FILM also provided cinematography and editing/post services to filmmaker Julie Kane Meyer, writer and director of GOOD LOVE RISES - another entrant in the ScreenLabs Challenge this year. Julie was awarded Best Film and Best Screenplay in the ScreenLabs Challenge for her compelling 2007 entry, FORGOTTEN, and is a formidable talent in this year's competition as well.
4) MING!FILM's short film ON THE LAST DAY, based on the feature-length script by David CC Erickson continues to wait out its festival submission status and will be released to all available channels later this year. The trailer can be viewed at mingfilm.com.
Thank you for participating in the Minneapolis film community!
